Butyl acetate vs ethyl acetate, isobutyl acetate and butyl cellosolve acetate
n-Butyl acetate evaporates more slowly and boils higher than ethyl acetate (general knowledge, approximate), so it is chosen for flow and levelling rather than fast release. It is also a different chemical from isobutyl acetate, sec-butyl acetate and butyl cellosolve acetate. Check the CAS number: ours is 123-86-4.
Our SDS gives the evaporation rate as Moderate, relative to diethyl ether = 1. The n-butyl acetate = 1 scale used in the table is general industry convention; do not mix the two scales. We do not state a numeric evaporation value for our own material.
