Butyl Acetate

Butyl acetate is a solvent for paints, coatings and lacquers, printing inks, and thinner blending. Its slower evaporation makes it useful in automotive and industrial coatings, where it helps control flow and levelling during film formation.

The CAS number is 123-86-4. n-BAC (also written NBAC) stands for n-Butyl Acetate, the butyl ester of acetic acid, systematically named butyl ethanoate.

Both are acetate ester solvents, but butyl acetate is the slower-evaporating of the two, which is why it is chosen for automotive and industrial coatings where flow and levelling control matter. Ethyl acetate is used where a faster solvent release is wanted. We supply both, along with n-Propyl Acetate and Butyl Cellosolve Acetate.
