CAS numbers of chemicals we supply
A CAS number is the unique numeric identifier a chemical carries in the CAS Registry, written as three hyphen-separated groups, for example 67-64-1 for acetone. This table lists the CAS number of each industrial chemical Supreme Petro Chemicals supplies from Chennai to manufacturers across South India, with the formula and common names added where we have checked them. Use your browser's find to search by name, synonym or CAS number, then open the product page for specifications, documents and a quote. We quote within 4 working hours, and a batch Certificate of Analysis is supplied with every delivery.
CAS numbers are as listed in our catalogue. The batch Certificate of Analysis and SDS are the controlling documents for any purchase. Related: HSN codes of the chemicals we supply and the SDS & TDS library.

Products without a single CAS number
These products are sold under trade or blend names and do not have a single CAS number listed in our catalogue. Send us your requirement and we will confirm the composition.
How to use a CAS number when buying chemicals
Quote the CAS number alongside the product name, grade and quantity on every enquiry and purchase order, then check that the same number appears on the SDS and the batch Certificate of Analysis. The CAS number confirms the substance; the grade and concentration come from the technical data sheet.
CAS number FAQs
What is a CAS number?
A CAS Registry Number is a unique numeric identifier assigned to a chemical substance by CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society. It is written as three hyphen-separated groups of digits. The last digit is a check digit calculated from the others. It identifies the substance, not a supplier, brand or grade.
How do I read a CAS number?
The format is a first group of 2 to 7 digits, then 2 digits, then a single check digit, for example 67-64-1. The groups carry no chemical meaning of their own. Numbers are assigned in sequence as substances are registered. The check digit lets you detect most transcription errors.
Why does procurement need the CAS number and not just the name?
Names vary: acetone, propanone and dimethyl ketone are one substance. They also vary by language and by trade usage. A CAS number gives the quotation, purchase order, SDS and Certificate of Analysis one unambiguous reference to check against each other.
Does the CAS number tell me the grade or purity?
No. It identifies the substance only. Grade, purity, concentration and form come from the technical data sheet and the batch Certificate of Analysis. State them separately on the enquiry. Technical grade does not imply food or pharmaceutical grade.
Why do hydrates and salts have different CAS numbers from the base compound?
Each distinct substance form is registered separately. For example, a monohydrate and its anhydrous form have different CAS numbers. So do a salt and its parent acid. Always confirm which form your process needs.
What does "representative CAS" mean for mixtures?
Some commercial products are mixtures or substances of variable composition. The CAS shown covers the substance class. The exact composition varies by grade and batch. The batch Certificate of Analysis is the record of what you receive.
How do I use a CAS number to request a quote?
Send the CAS number, the grade you need, the quantity and your delivery location by WhatsApp, phone or the contact form. We quote within 4 working hours.
Is the CAS number enough for import or customs paperwork?
No. Customs classification uses a separate HS/HSN code, and different forms of one CAS can sit under different codes. Confirm the classification with your customs adviser.
Where can I find the safety data sheet for a CAS number?
Open the product page, which links the SDS and TDS where we hold them. A safety data sheet lists the CAS number in its identification section. Check that it matches the CAS on your order.
Why do two entries in a list sometimes share one CAS number?
The same substance can be supplied in different forms or grade labels. Glycerine and Glycerin USP are both glycerol, and solid caustic soda and caustic soda lye are both sodium hydroxide. Read the product page and the Certificate of Analysis for the form and concentration.
