About this product
Urea — also known as carbamide, CAS 57-13-6 — is a white, free-flowing prilled solid that dissolves readily in water and is a core nitrogen input in resin, adhesive and textile chemistry. We stock imported technical-grade prilled urea in 50 kg bags, supplied against the manufacturer's Certificate of Analysis at 46.0% w/w minimum total nitrogen (dry basis) and 1.0% w/w maximum biuret. Stock is held at our Redhills warehouse in Chennai and dispatched across South India.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CAS number for urea, and is urea the same as carbamide?
Urea's CAS number is 57-13-6. Carbamide is the same compound under a different name, so carbamide also carries CAS 57-13-6.
What is technical grade urea used for in industry?
We stock Technical Grade (Industrial Use) urea, supplied as white prilled, free-flowing material. It is used in urea-formaldehyde and melamine resin production, plywood and particle board adhesive binders, textile processing, industrial nitrogen dosing for fermentation and effluent treatment, and laboratory work. Our TDS covers the technical grade only.
What is the nitrogen and biuret specification of technical grade urea?
Per the manufacturer's Certificate of Analysis, total nitrogen (as N, dry basis) is 46.0% w/w minimum, biuret is 1.0% w/w maximum and moisture is 1.0% w/w maximum. Particle size is 90% minimum through a 2.80 mm sieve and 1.0% maximum through a 1.00 mm sieve.
How should urea be stored, and what is its shelf life?
Urea is hygroscopic, so keep bags tightly sealed in a cool, dry area and avoid heat above 50°C. Shelf life is 24 months from manufacture. It is not classified as hazardous or as dangerous goods, but avoid dust inhalation and prolonged skin contact.
What is the HSN code for urea in India?
The HSN code shown on our technical data sheet for technical-grade urea is 3102 10 90.
