Glycerin USP

It is certified to all three on one document. The Vance Bioenergy Certificate of Analysis for the batch states that the material conforms to the USP, BP and EP glycerin monographs. Every test on that certificate is run to USP-NF 2026 methods, so the numeric limits we publish are the USP-NF 2026 limits as tested, not a separate BP or EP limit table. If your QA system needs the BP or EP limits reproduced on the certificate itself, say so on the enquiry and we will confirm what the producing plant can issue before you raise the order.

They are two different materials from two different plants, which is why they stay two products. Glycerin USP is imported refined vegetable glycerine from Vance Bioenergy Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, assay 99.0 - 101.0 % on the anhydrous basis, in 250 kg new HDPE drums. Glycerine is domestic Indian Pharmacopoeia 2022 material from Kaleesuwari Refinery and Industry Private Limited, assay 98.0 – 101.0 % on the anhydrous basis, Halal certified, in 250 kg HDPE drums. Order by the line you need and the certificate names that grade.

For the certified batch: assay 100.21 % on the anhydrous basis against a 99.00 – 101.00 % limit, glycerol 99.88 % against 99.7 % minimum, specific gravity 1.2602 at 25 °C against 1.249 minimum, water 0.07 %, colour 2 APHA against 10 APHA maximum, and diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol both not detected. Those are batch figures. The certificate travelling with your drums is the one that binds, and it goes out with the dispatch.

Every compendial glycerin monograph carries a limit test for diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol, because those glycols look and behave like glycerine in a formulation and are cheaper. A certificate quoting only assay, colour and specific gravity discharges none of that obligation. On this material both are reported as not detected. Ask for that result on the certificate travelling with your drums as a figure or an explicit not-detected statement, never as the word complies.

Glycerin USP is CAS 56-81-5. Its HSN code is 2905 45 00 — the same tariff line as every other glycerin grade we carry.
