White Petroleum Jelly

White Petroleum Jelly — commonly called Petrolatum and abbreviated WPJ — is a white to off-white translucent semi-solid gel, odourless to faint petroleum-like. It is insoluble in water and soluble in benzene, chloroform and ether, and is not classified as dangerous goods.

Across grades generally the melting point sits in a wider 38–60 °C band, grade dependent. Other CoA parameters include kinematic viscosity at 100 °C of 5.00 – 7.00 cSt, sulphated ash 0.050 % max, Lovibond Colour Yellow 1.0 max, and light absorption at 290 nm of 0.500 max.

Store in a cool, dry area away from ignition sources, direct heat and strong oxidisers. Shelf life is 36 months from manufacture. It is a non-hazardous, non-flammable semi-solid and is not regulated for transport.
