Phenol (Liquid / Crystal)

Phenol is the building block for phenolic resins — reacted with formaldehyde it gives phenol–formaldehyde resins used in plywood and laminate adhesives, moulding compounds and bonded abrasives. It is also the feedstock for bisphenol-A (epoxy and polycarbonate), caprolactam for nylon 6, alkylphenols and alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactants, and phenolic disinfectant fluids.

Phenol is CAS 108-95-2 and HSN 2907 11 10. It is also known as carbolic acid, hydroxybenzene or phenic acid, with the molecular formula C6H5OH (C6H6O).

They are two supply forms of the same chemical, not two grades. Phenol has a crystallizing point of 40.3 °C min, so it is handled hot as a molten liquid in bulk and sets to a solid crystalline mass below that point. Our material is colourless to light pink and free from suspended matter at 41 °C.

We supply phenol to IS 538:2020, Min 99.80%. Specification: purity 99.80 % wt min, moisture 0.10 % wt max, residue on evaporation 0.05 % wt max, crystallizing point 40.3 °C min, colour colourless to light pink and free from suspended matter at 41 °C. Values are per the manufacturer's Certificate of Quality (HOCL, IS 538:2020); HOCL is BIS-licensed for IS 538:2020 under CM/L-6400101486.

Phenol is corrosive and toxic (UN 1671/2312, Class 6.1). It causes severe skin burns and is harmful if absorbed through the skin, inhaled or swallowed — handle with full PPE and avoid all contact.
