About this product

Di Octyl Maleate (DOM) is the bis(2-ethylhexyl) ester of maleic acid — CAS 142-16-5 — a maleate ester plasticiser from the maleic anhydride family. Supplied in Plasticizer Grade (Industrial) at an ester content of 99.0% mass minimum, it is used as a plasticiser and comonomer in PVC, vinyl and emulsion polymer formulations that need a low-colour, low-acid ester. We stock DOM from KLJ Group — one of Asia's largest plasticizer manufacturers, with ISO 9001 certified plants — in 225 kg HDPE/MS drums at our Redhills warehouse in Chennai, for dispatch across South India.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Di Octyl Maleate (DOM) used for?

DOM is used as a plasticiser and comonomer in PVC, vinyl, emulsion polymer, adhesive and coating formulations. DOM is the trade abbreviation for Di Octyl Maleate, a maleate ester plasticiser derived from maleic anhydride. We supply it in Plasticizer Grade (Industrial).

What is the CAS number of Di Octyl Maleate?

The CAS number for Di Octyl Maleate is 142-16-5. The same product is also called bis(2-ethylhexyl) maleate — DOM, Di Octyl Maleate and bis(2-ethylhexyl) maleate all refer to CAS 142-16-5.

What is the specification of the Di Octyl Maleate you supply?

Our DOM is a clear liquid free from suspended matter, colour 100 max Hazen (APHA Pt-Co), ester content 99.0% mass min, specific gravity 0.940–0.948 at 25 °C, acid value 0.20 mg KOH/g max, refractive index 1.451–1.456 at 25 °C, and moisture 0.10% mass max. These figures follow the manufacturer's published specification (KLJ Group plasticizer typical values); no IS/ISO/BIS standard is claimed for this product.

What packaging is Di Octyl Maleate available in, and do you supply from Chennai?

DOM is packed in 225 kg HDPE/MS drums. We hold it at our Redhills warehouse in Chennai and dispatch across South India; order sizes depend on packaging and current stock. For a quote, call or WhatsApp +91 86087 80096.

What is the HSN code for Di Octyl Maleate, and where can I download the MSDS?

The HSN code is 2917 19 90. The TDS (document SPC-TDS-PLA-006) and the MSDS/SDS for Di Octyl Maleate are both downloadable from this product page.

What is the difference between Di Octyl Maleate (DOM) and Di Octyl Phthalate (DOP)?

DOM (CAS 142-16-5) is a maleate ester plasticiser from the maleic anhydride family, while DOP (CAS 117-81-7) is a phthalate ester. We stock both, along with DOTP and DBP, in our Plasticizers & Chlorinated range.
