Copper Sulphate

Copper Sulphate (Pentahydrate) is CAS 7758-99-8, HSN 2833 25 00, chemical formula CuSO₄·5H₂O. It is also sold as blue vitriol or bluestone, and spelled copper sulfate in US usage.

The pentahydrate is CuSO₄·5H₂O and appears as blue crystalline granules or powder. The anhydrous form is CuSO₄ and is white. We supply the pentahydrate, at 98.0% mass min purity and 24.5% mass min copper as Cu.

Buyers use it as a water-soluble copper source — in agriculture and crop protection, as an algaecide in water treatment, in electroplating and metal finishing, as a mining flotation reagent, as a feed-grade copper supplement, and as a laboratory reagent. It is freely soluble in water at 203 g/L at 20°C, slightly soluble in ethanol, and carries 24.5% mass min copper as Cu. Store it in a cool, dry area away from reactive metals, reducing agents and alkalis, and away from foodstuffs and feed. Shelf life is 36 months from manufacture. It ships as UN 3077, Class 9 — environmentally hazardous substance, solid (Packing Group III).
