Hydrocarbon solvents
The solvency and volume base of a conventional alkyd or nitrocellulose system. Ortho xylene is a single-isomer cut at 98.50 wt% min o-xylene; mixed xylene is the isomer blend at 98.5% min xylene isomers plus ethylbenzene. MTO is the slow, high-flash cut — boiling range 145–210°C, flash point 38–60°C (closed cup, grade dependent).
| Product | Grade we stock | Active matter / key spec | CAS | Packaging |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toluene | Industrial / Technical / Nitration grade | 99.5% min (GC) | 108-88-3 | 200L MS barrel, 1000L IBC tank, Bulk tanker |
| Mixed Xylene | Industrial / Technical | ≥ 98.5% (xylene isomers + ethylbenzene) | 1330-20-7 | 200L MS barrel, 1000L IBC tank, Bulk tanker |
| Ortho Xylene | Petrochemical grade, 98.5% min | 98.50 wt% min o-Xylene (per Reliance Industries Certificate of Quality) | 95-47-6 | Bulk road tanker |
| Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO) | Industrial / Technical (high flash > 38°C) | Boiling range 145–210°C; flash point 38–60°C (closed cup, grade dependent) | 8052-41-3 | 200L MS barrel, 1000L IBC tank |
Ester & ketone solvents
The evaporation ladder. Ranked on the boiling points we publish, the ladder runs acetone at 56.05°C, MEK at 79.6°C, MIBK at an initial boiling point of Min 114.0 °C and cyclo hexanone at Min 153°C; we do not publish a boiling point for the two esters, so ask for the batch CoA where the evaporation window is critical.

Glycol ethers & the alcohol
Flow, levelling and open time. On our own glycol-ether comparison, methoxy propanol (PGME) at a distillation range of 116 – 125 °C is the fastest of the seven we compare and PGMEA the medium cut; butyl cellosolve acetate at 188 – 195 °C and butyl carbitol are the slow end that stays in the film. Butyl carbitol is the diglycol ether here — diethylene glycol monobutyl ether at 99.0 % wt min. Butanol (NBA) is BIS-certified normal butanol, supplied in bulk road tanker.

Plasticizers, resin & pigment
The non-volatile fraction — what stays in the film. Our alkyd is Medium Oil, Soya Modified at solids content 60 ± 2% by mass (typical), and it is supplied in solvent: mineral turpentine / xylene — the link straight back to group 01. The three ester plasticizers we hold are KLJ grades — DOP, DBP and DOTP, with DOTP the non-phthalate of the three. Chlorinated paraffin wax is the secondary plasticizer alongside them. The titanium dioxide we stock is the rutile grade.

Which solvents do you supply to paint manufacturers in Chennai?
Four groups, 22 products, supplied from Chennai — stocked lines out of our Redhills warehouse, and indent sourcing where a grade is not held. Hydrocarbon solvents — toluene, mixed xylene, ortho xylene and MTO. Ester and ketone solvents — acetone, MEK, MIBK, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate and cyclo hexanone. Glycol ethers and an alcohol — butyl cellosolve, butyl cellosolve acetate, butyl carbitol, methoxy propanol (PGMME), PGMEA and butanol (NBA). Then the non-volatile side: DOP, DBP, DOTP, chlorinated paraffin wax, alkyd resin and rutile titanium dioxide.
Do you stock a non-phthalate plasticizer?
Yes. DOTP — Kanatol-8080, a non-phthalate PVC plasticizer from KLJ Plasticizers Limited, at 99.50% min plasticizing ester by GC (% by area), in MS drums and bulk tankers. We hold it alongside the phthalate grades DOP (Kanatol-800, 99.50% min ester content) and DBP (Kanatol-400 (M)), so trialling a substitution does not mean opening a new vendor.
What grade of titanium dioxide do you stock?
Rutile. Our titanium dioxide is KEMOX RC-822 from KMML — TiO2 content 93.0% min and rutile content 99.0% min per the KMML COA, pH 5.0 – 8.5 in 10% aqueous slurry, in 25 kg bags. The catalogue name reads Anatase / Rutile; the grade we hold is the rutile.
Can you supply paint solvents in bulk tanker as well as drums?
Both, and it varies by product. Toluene, mixed xylene and acetone ship in 200L MS barrel, 1000L IBC tank or bulk tanker. Ortho xylene and butanol (NBA) go in bulk road tanker; ethyl acetate in dedicated cleaned tankers at roughly 20 MT loads. Butyl acetate is available in bulk road tanker, HDPE drums or MS drums; MEK in 200L MS barrel or 1000L IBC tank; MIBK in 160 kg HDPE/MS drums; cyclo hexanone in 180 kg MS drums or bulk tanker; PGMEA in bulk or 200 kg drums. Tell us the packing you can receive and we quote against it.
Do you supply finished thinner, or only the blending solvents?
Both. The table above is the blending slate. We also carry finished thinners in General Purpose / NC and Commercial grades, sourced from Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), in 200 L drums and tins. Our Thinner industry page, linked below, is the thinner-blending entry point; the table above is the solvent slate behind it.
