Reaction & synthesis solvents
The medium the step is run in. Toluene is the non-polar aromatic for reflux and azeotropic drying, boiling at 110.6°C; DMF and acetonitrile are the polar aprotic solvents that keep salts and polar intermediates in solution; cyclohexane is the inert low-polarity hydrocarbon, stocked as caprolactam-route Solvent Grade. Toluene is domestic supply; acetonitrile lands in steel drums and DMF in ISO tanks, both imported.

Extraction, crystallisation & recovery solvents
Pulling the product out of the reaction mass, then crystallising and washing it. Boiling point decides how easily a solvent strips back off — MDC at 39.6°C, acetone at 56.05°C and chloroform at 61.2°C come off low; IPA at 82.5°C and MIBK (initial boiling point Min 114.0 °C) sit higher. Acetone, IPA and chloroform are also held in Pharma (IP/BP/USP) grade, and MDC in a Pharma grade.

pH control, salt formation & workup reagents
Acids and alkalis for pH adjustment, salt formation, quenching and washing. These are process reagents in commercial and technical grades, not pharmacopoeial lines. Hydrochloric acid and caustic soda lye are the bulk pH pair; acetic acid and its sodium salt are the acetate buffer pair. Caustic soda lye is IS 252:2013 Grade-1 under BIS licence CM/L-6100076189, bulk road tanker only.

CAS 75-09-2Frequently Asked Questions
Which solvents do you supply for API manufacture?
We stock the reaction and recovery slate at our Redhills, Chennai warehouse: toluene (99.5% min by GC), acetonitrile (99.9% min by mass), DMF (99.8 % wt min), cyclohexane (98.0% mass min), MDC (99.9% min by GC), ethyl acetate (99.80% w/w min), acetone (99.5% min by GC), IPA (99.7% min by GC), MIBK (Min 99.5 wt %) and chloroform (≥ 99.0% technical, ≥ 99.5% pharma). The map above sets out which one does which unit operation.
Which grade of MDC do you supply for pharmaceutical extraction?
Methylene Di Chloride (MDC) — CAS 75-09-2, also traded as dichloromethane or DCM — is stocked in Industrial, Technical and Pharma grades at 99.9% min assay by GC. Name the grade on the enquiry: it is confirmed per order, not assumed, and the batch Certificate of Analysis carries the exact figure. Packing, hazard classification and the TDS and SDS downloads are on the MDC product page; our MDC buyer guide covers the wider sourcing picture.
What is the difference between your industrial and pharmacopoeial lines of the same solvent?
The molecule is the same. The grade is the standard the batch is certified against and the paperwork that travels with it. IPA is stocked as Industrial, Technical, Pharma (IP/BP/USP) and Electronic; acetone as Industrial, Technical and Pharma (IP/BP/USP); chloroform as Technical and Pharma (IP/BP/USP); MDC as Industrial, Technical and Pharma. Name the pharmacopoeia and the edition on your enquiry — grade is confirmed per order, not assumed. Our IP / BP / USP grade guide explains what each standard means on a certificate.
Do you stock glycerine in IP, BP, EP and USP?
Yes, across two lines. Glycerine (IP) is domestic Indian Pharmacopoeia 2022 material from Kaleesuwari Refinery, assay 98.0 – 101.0 % on the anhydrous basis, Halal certified, in 250 kg HDPE drums. Glycerin USP is imported Vance Bioenergy material, assay 99.0 - 101.0 % on the anhydrous basis in 250 kg new HDPE drums, and one Certificate of Analysis certifies that batch to the USP, BP and EP glycerin monographs - every test on it run to USP-NF 2026 methods, so the numeric limits are the USP-NF ones as tested. Name the pharmacopoeia and the edition on your enquiry and we will confirm what the producing plant can certify before you raise the order. The rest of the pharmacopoeial range, with makes and packing, is on our Food & Pharma Grade page.
Can one enquiry cover solvents and excipients together?
Yes. Solvents, acids, alkalis and excipients move from the same Redhills, Chennai warehouse on one dispatch, so a mixed list is one enquiry and one dispatch plan. Use the map above for what each material does in the plant, and the Food & Pharma Grade page for the pharmacopoeial stock with CAS, packing and makes.
